Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Until 6 April 2016 the Scheme was contracted-out of the State Second Pension (S2P) and members, up to State Pension Age, (if prior to 6 April 2016) paid reduced National Insurance contributions on their allowances between the Lower Earnings Limit and Upper Accruals Point, unless they have opted to pay the married woman’s/widow’s reduced rate of National Insurance.

From 6 April 2016 the government removed the reduction in National Insurance contributions for all contracted out pension schemes, for more details see: The New State Pension and National Insurance changes in 2016
