What about my National Insurance contributions?

Until 6 April 2016 the Scheme was contracted-out of the State Second Pension (S2P) and members, up to State Pension Age [1], (if prior to 6 April 2016) paid reduced National Insurance contributions on their allowances between the Lower Earnings Limit [2]and Upper Accruals Point [3], unless they have opted to pay the married woman’s/widow’s reduced rate of National Insurance.

From 6 April 2016 the government removed the reduction in National Insurance contributions for all contracted out pension schemes, for more details see: The New State Pension and National Insurance changes in 2016 [4]
