Wirral Council as the administering authority of Merseyside Pension Fund operates a Local Pension Board to ensure that the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is well managed and representative at a local level.

As per the terms of reference of the Board, there is an upcoming vacancy for the position of Representative for Active Members. We are inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals, who believe they have knowledge of the sector and can act in this role on the Board.

You can read more information about the Board’s work since its inception, including upcoming agenda items, minutes of all meetings, the Board’s Terms of Reference, Code of Practice and Member’s Code of Conduct at: mpfund.uk/lpb [1]

What type of person are we looking for?

To qualify as a member representative, you must be a contributing member of a participating scheme employer.

For the role we are looking for a person who can demonstrate the criteria, characteristics and skills outlined in the Role/Person Specification at: mpfund.uk/lpbspec [2]

As a Board Member you will be expected to commit to undertake the role for a period of four years.

Meetings take place during the day in Liverpool City Centre at least four times per year and board members should be willing to attend induction/training sessions as required.  A modest remuneration is paid for the role, along with travel and subsistence expenses.

It should be noted that the role will involve reviewing the financial aspects of pension fund management, including investment elements, and it is desirable to appoint a person who can bring an appropriate level of knowledge with them.
