When can I draw my deferred benefits if I left the LGPS before 1 April 2014?

If you left the LGPS before 1 April 2014, your deferred benefits are normally payable at age 65.

However, there are two ways in which your deferred benefits can be paid earlier:

  • at your own request [1], or
  • due to permanent ill-health [2]

Your deferred benefits increase in value every year, until payment. Your pension will continue to receive cost of living increases every year, as it is paid to you: as the cost of living increases, so will your benefits.
