The Statement of Investment Principles

The Statement of Investment Principles (SIP) was approved by the Pension Committee of Wirral Council (constituting the primary governing and decision-making body of the Merseyside Pension Fund) at its meeting on 19 November 2013.
 
The Statement has been prepared in accordance with Regulation 12 of The Local Government Pension Scheme (Management and Investment of Funds) Regulations 2009 (SI 2009 No. 3093).
 
The SIP describes the high-level principles governing the investment decision-making and management of Merseyside Pension Fund (MPF) and the policy that has been developed to ensure their implementation.
 
It has been prepared, in line with guidance received from the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, with reference to the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA) Pensions Panel publication, ‘Principles for Investment Decision Making and Disclosure in the LGPS in the United Kingdom 2009 – A Guide to the Application of the 2008 Myners Principles to the Management of LGPS Funds’.
