Merseyside Pension Fund picked up the prize for Fund of the Year (Above £2 billion) at the LGC Investment Awards, held at The Royal Garden Hotel in London.

The night brought together the key industry players to reward and recognise the most innovative initiatives and deserving individuals in the local authority pensions and investment sector.

Jenny Vyas, Head of LGC Events commented:

‘It has been another tough year for everyone involved in the local government investment world and next year doesn’t look like being any easier. There is no shortage of challenges to be faced and the prospect of the new LGPS in 2014 will certainly keep everyone busy.

Now more than ever, it is important to come together to share best practice and learn from each other’s experiences. So I would like to start by thanking you for your hard work and commitment throughout the year which ensures that the Local Government Pension Scheme is in safe hands.

Congratulations to all those organisations shortlisted for this year’s awards and of course to those who will emerge this evening as the overall winners’

Now in their 19th year, The LGC Investment Awards are the only awards devoted to acknowledging and rewarding exceptional achievement in local authority pensions and investment. The categories recognise accomplishments across different markets and for the quality of their funds, service and corporate governance.
