EARLY RETIREMENT THROUGH REDUNDANCY OR EFFICIENCY

In the event of your employer having to introduce a redundancy programme or a policy to improve the efficiency of the service, members who are at least 55 years of age and leave either compulsorily or voluntarily, are eligible for an immediate pension. In these circumstances benefits are not subject to reduction as for Early Retirement.

Augmentation of Membership

Your employer may grant you as augmented membership on retirement
the shorter of:
  • 10 years, or
  • the period by which your total membership falls short of the total membership you would have had had you continued as an active member until age 65
Each employer has a published policy disclosing whether or not they augment membership. You should ask your Personnel Department for details of your employer's policy.
