DEATH IN RETIREMENT
|
Protection for your Family |

If you die after retiring on pension, your benefits will no longer be payable. Your widow, widower, civil partner, nominated cohabiting partner, next-of-kin or person dealing with your Estate must immediately inform the Fund as otherwise an overpayment could occur.
The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) ensures that your surviving family members are protected against the immediate loss of income.
What benefits could be paid if I die after retiring on pension?
- a lump sum death grant
- an ongoing survivor's pension for your husband, wife, civil partner or nominated cohabiting partner
- children's pensions for any eligible children
